Stamp collecting is the collecting of postage stamps and related objects. It is related to philately, which is the study of stamps. It has been one of the world's most popular hobbies since the late nineteenth century with the rapid growth of the postal service, as a never-ending stream of new stamps was produced by countries that sought to advertise their distinctiveness through their stamps.
Postage stamps are often collected for their historical value and geographical aspects and also for the many subjects depicted on them, ranging from ships, horses, birds to kings, queens and presidents.

It all started when i was a kid, u know during schooling days where the teacher would talk about hobbies. This is where i started to collect stems. Upon getting to know about such hobby, i was fascinated to try it. I would be waiting eagerly everyday for the postman to come so that i can get my stamps. Each and every letter usually has a different stamp but sometimes they would seem common depending on type of letter and price of the stems. There was this one part where i searched through my dads letter box which had various letters with diverse stamp.

My kind of storage |
Special equipment- magnifying glass and stamp tongs are needed for this. Precaution, stamps must be carefully removed without damaging the stamps so a stamp tongs is used. Its different for me. I have my own way.
My way of removing stamps :-
1. Firstly, cut the stem with the letter cover nicely
2. Next, soak it in water so that the glue will turn off
3. Then, the letter cover and stem will come separately
4. Finally, remove from stamp from the water and throw the letter cover.
5. Make sure to dry the stamp off

When i was a kid, i didn't know much in detail about stamp collecting. i just used to collect random stamps which would be found on my parents letters. Now after making some research, i got to know that different stamps have different stories, history and price.
I still haven't bought a stem collection book yet and still finding for one. I hope i'll get it soon so that i get to arrange my stamps in a proper display view and I do not loss my precious stamps, and making sure it will be neat.
