BEIJING TRIP

wang fu jing road like pavillion kl

Assalamualaikum and hello gang, for my 12th and last entry, I would like to share about my journey to Peking, China. Y'all must be wondering where the Peking is it? Actually, Peking is the old name for Beijing. Let us overview a little bit about this China capital city. Beijing is the most populous city with over 21 million residents In a nutshell, it also one of the world's leading center for culture, diplomacy, economy, education, language, politics, business, and science technology. Beijing is a 4 seasons climate. Not sure either I am lucky or not because when I was in Beijing it was winter season. IT TOTALLY cool with temperature about to minus degree celcius. However, it seldom to snow in Beijing. My thought when I landed at Beijing Airport was sure there were snow fall down but unfortunately no, just extreme cool breeze over me. Let me share my unforgettable experience there by photos.

The Summer Palace, in northwest Beijing, is said to be the best preserved imperial garden in the world, and the largest of its kind still in existence in China. It is only a short drive (15 km) from central Beijing, but seems like another world. Also a summer retreat for the Imperial family. The Summer Palace’s landscaped gardens, temples, and pavilions were designed to achieve harmony with nature, to soothe, and to please the eye. During the hot Beijing summers, the imperial family preferred the beautiful gardens and airy pavilions of the Summer Palace to the walled-in Forbidden City. Dowager Empress Cixi took up permanent residence there for a time, giving rise to some wonderful tales of extravagance and excess.

History details:

· In 1750, Emperor Qianglong, fourth emperor of the Qing Dynasty, commissioned the first Summer Palace, named Qingyi Yuan or ‘the Garden of Clear Ripples’.

· In 1860, it was destroyed by the Anglo-French Allied Forces and rebuild in 1886.

· In 1888, the Summer Palace was given its present-day Chinese name, Yihe Yuan, and served as a summer resort for the Empress Dowager Cixi.
· In 1900, it was destroyed by the Allied Forces of the Eight Powers.
· In 1912, it was rebuilt as one of the final acts of the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912).
· In 1924, it was opened to the public as a tourist attraction.
· In 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List.

hello ada lagi tak, ruang?

unique as heaven garden

The Forbidden City In ancient times, the emperor was said to be a son of Heaven, and therefore Heaven’s supreme power was bestowed upon him. The emperors’ residence was built leading north, as an earthly foil to the heavenly Purple Palace, i.e. the North

Star, though to be home to the Celestial Emperor. Considered a divine place, it was certainly forbidden to ordinary people and that is why the Forbidden City is so named.

The Great Wall of China, known as one from the 7 magnificent of world. When I went to the Great Wall, I use to enter from Juyonguan Pass which is northern entrance for the Great Wall. Situated in a valley surrounded by mountains on two sides, it has long been a military stronghold. It was first built in the Spring and Autumn Period (770 – 476 BC) and Warring States Period (476 – 221 BC) by Yan State as a fortification, and was linked to the Great Wall of China in the Southern and Northern Dynasties (386 – 589). Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644), ordered the pass to be rebuilt to protect the northern borders from Mongol invasions. The extant pass was built then, and renovated in 1992. The mountain to the east is the 492 feet (150 meters) high Cuiping Mountain, with 4,921 feet (1,500 meters) of wall on its ridges. To the west is 1,152 feet (351 meters) Jingui Mountain, with 3,937 feet (1,200 meters) of wall built on it. The walls on the two mountains look like giant arms cradling the buildings of the valley. The pass is roughly circular with a perimeter of about 4,530 yards (4,142 meters) long. The widest point of the wall is 18 yards (16.7 meters), while the narrowest measures only 1.3 yards (1.2 meters). It consists of two gates, one in the south and the other in the north, respectively called Nan (south) Guan (gate) and Bei (north) Guan. Two high watchtowers were built at each gate. There is a high platform called Cloud Platform in the centre of the pass. It is a white marble construction. There used to be buildings on top of the platform, but they were destroyed by fire and only the marble base remains. An arched doorway penetrates the platform. On the walls of the doorway, statues of four heavenly gods and sutra scriptures were carved.

The Tiananmen Square
, is named after the Tian'anmen gate to its north, separating it from the Forbidden City. The gate's literal name ‘Heaven Peace Gate' is usually translated "Gate of Heavenly Peace". The impressive expanse of Tian'anmen Square has hosted momentous events like the declaration of the People's Republic of China by Chairman Mao in 1949, and is surrounded by a host of world class sights, from the Forbidden City to China's National Museum. It's now the seventh largest city square in the world (and the fourth largest in China [2019]), at 440,000 square meters (109 acres) in size. It can hold about 1 million people for public celebrations or gatherings. It will be the biggest military parade in China in many years. All weapons on display are made in China. The parade will last around 80 minutes and 15000 people are involved in this huge event. In addition to this, there will be 160 aircraft, 580 sets of equipment and 59 squads (15 marching squads, 32 equipment squads, 12 air force squads) in the military parade.
